At Franklin Academy, we believe that visual arts are essential to a well-rounded education. Art is not just about creating beautiful objects; it is about learning to observe the world closely, think divergently, and express complex ideas. The Franklin Arts program provides students from Kindergarten through 12th grade with a dynamic, hands-on environment to explore their creativity. Through diverse mediums and expert guidance, our students develop both foundational techniques and their own unique artistic voices.

Our visual arts curriculum is designed to give students exposure to a wide variety of artistic disciplines, allowing them to experiment, take creative risks, and master different techniques.
Drawing & Illustration
The foundation of visual expression. Students learn core techniques in perspective, proportion, shading, and line work using graphite, charcoal, ink, and pastels. They are encouraged to translate their observations and imaginations onto paper with precision and confidence.
2D Art & Painting
Exploring the power of color and composition. Students dive into color theory, texture, and mixed media. Working with acrylics, watercolors, and printmaking, they learn how to convey emotion and narrative through two-dimensional design.
3D Art & Sculpture
Bringing ideas into physical space. Our 3D art curriculum challenges students to think spatially. Through ceramics, clay modeling, wirework, and architectural design, students learn how to manipulate materials to build form, structure, and sculptural installations.

Elementary School (Grades K-5)
Trilingual Creativity For our younger students, art is seamlessly integrated into their Trilingual Immersion experience. They learn about colors, shapes, and cultural art history in English, Mandarin, and Spanish, using art as a joyful, tactile way to reinforce language acquisition and fine motor skills.
Middle School (Grades 6-8)
Exploration & Technique Middle school artists begin to hone their technical skills and explore art history more deeply. They are introduced to more complex projects in 2D and 3D mediums, learning how to critique their own work and the work of their peers in a supportive studio environment.
High School (Grades 9-12)
Advanced Studio & Portfolios High school students who are passionate about the arts can take advanced studio courses. Here, the focus shifts to conceptual depth and independent creation. Our art faculty closely mentors upperclassmen in curating professional-level portfolios, which are vital for admission into top-tier university architecture, design, and fine arts programs.
