The Franklin Research Internship Program (FRIP) offers a unique, intensive research experience designed specifically for high school students. Whether you’re looking to enhance your research skills during the summer or engage in year-round research, FRIP provides an exceptional opportunity to work on individual projects, guided by esteemed college professors and experienced researchers.

Individual Research Projects

Conduct an independent high school research project on a topic of your choice, from defining your research question to conducting thorough investigations and analysis.

Research Skills Training

The first three weeks focus on developing research and analysis skills, including experiment design and data interpretation. This comprehensive training ensures that students have the foundation they need to succeed in their projects.

Mentorship

Personalized mentorship is a cornerstone of FRIP. Experienced mentors guide students through every step of the research process, refining methodologies and enhancing writing skills.

Final Research Paper

By the end of the program, students complete a full research paper on their chosen topic. Exceptional papers will be considered for publication in academic journals, giving students the opportunity to contribute to the broader academic community.

PERSONALIZED RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

During the program, students work on independent research projects, guided by college professors and experienced researchers. Program Information

FRIP offers flexibility for students to engage in high school research during both the summer and the school year. Both the summer and year-round sessions are six weeks long. The summer session takes place during the school break, while the year-round program runs from October to March, allowing students to balance ongoing research alongside their academic studies.



Weeks 1-3

Intensive training on research and analysis skills. Students learn how to craft research questions, design experiments, and analyze data, ensuring they are fully equipped to tackle their projects.



Weeks 4-6

Students work on their individual research projects, applying the skills they’ve learned. During this time, they also write a full research paper, with personalized guidance from mentors and faculty.

Publication Opportunity

Exceptional students have the chance to submit their research papers for evaluation. Those selected will have their papers published in academic journals, giving them the opportunity to showcase their work to a broader audience and bolster their academic portfolios.



Top research papers are chosen based on originality and academic quality.

Journal Publication

Successful submissions may be published in the Journal of Quantitative and Qualitative Research, giving students engaged in high school research the opportunity to gain recognition within the academic community.
