Trilingual Immersion Program
TRILINGUAL IMMERSION PROGRAM
Franklin Academy offers a distinctive daily trilingual immersion program in which students learn Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and English through immersive language classes taught by teachers who are native speakers. In addition to dedicated language classes, K-5 mathematics and K-2 science are taught in Chinese, giving students a broader understanding of the Chinese language.
Program Advantages
Meaningful Language Use Across Academic Learning
Language at Franklin Academy is not treated as a separate subject, but as a tool for thinking, problem-solving, and expression. Students read, discuss, analyze, and explain ideas across subjects using multiple languages, strengthening both academic understanding and communication skills.
This approach helps students gain confidence using language naturally and purposefully in real academic contexts.
Strong Academics Without Language Trade-Offs
Students are challenged with grade-level academic content while developing language skills naturally through daily use, ensuring neither academic depth nor language growth is compromised.
Recognized Multilingual Outcomes
Students demonstrate the ability to understand, explain, and apply academic concepts in more than one language, building practical multilingual competence that goes beyond memorization.
Cultural Awareness Built Into Daily Learning
Regular exposure to different languages and perspectives helps students develop openness, adaptability, and respect for diverse cultures—skills essential in a global learning environment.
ENGLISH · MANDARIN · SPANISH
Language learning at Franklin Academy is an integral part of academic instruction. Each language plays a distinct role in supporting communication, academic development, and cultural understanding within the Trilingual Immersion Program.

ENGLISH
English serves as the primary language for academic learning and intellectual development. Students build strong reading, writing, and analytical skills through discussion-based learning, academic projects, and structured coursework.
Instruction emphasizes clear thinking, evidence-based reasoning, and effective academic expression across subject areas.

MANDARIN
Mandarin is used as a meaningful language of learning, supporting both academic understanding and real-world communication. Through sustained exposure and structured application, students develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in authentic academic contexts.
This approach helps students build confidence using Mandarin naturally while engaging with complex ideas.

SPANISH
Spanish is incorporated through academic and language-focused experiences that encourage active use and cultural engagement. Students develop practical communication skills while gaining an understanding of language structure and cultural context.
Immersive learning opportunities support confidence, flexibility, and global awareness.
